History in the Making…
1951 – Lakelands Concrete Products is founded and incorporated by WR Clarke and GL Price, with the principal product being septic tanks. The facility is located in the old railroad roadhouse in Avon, NY.
1954 – Lakelands purchased property on Maplewood Avenue in Honeoye Falls, NY and relocates
1955 – Lakelands adds a new product line, Cavitex, a concrete brick. Another building and kiln are erected on the property
1957 – Our brick producing machinery is converted over to produce patio blocks for the local garden store and lumberyard markets
1959 – Lakelands reaches milestone and sells over 2000 septic tanks in one year
1963 – Lakelands begins to diversify and enters the Utility Vault market, producing a line of vaults called Quikset
1966 – As business grows, a second property is purchased in Lima, NY to house utility vault protection
1968 – In January, Lakelands is hit with two fires in four days, the second leveling the plant in less than one hour. The cause concluded to be arson.
In February, the Honeoye Falls Plant was sold, a new 50′ x 154′ building was erected in Lima, and business continues to grow.
1971– New office building constructed, and addition of Lakelands Fabricators, our own steel fabrication company to support our growing demand
1972 – New 50′ x 210′ plant addition erected
1975 – Lakelands acquires Concrete Utility Products, along with Chase Precast, to service the New England market
1976 – Lakelands acquires another company, renaming it Lakelands Hudson Valley (LHV), in Kingston NY, to service the Hudson Valley and NJ markets
1980 – Efforts were concentrated on the Lima facility. Concrete Utility Products and LHV were sold
1980s– Box Culverts are added as a major product line, supporting the needs of state and local towns and cities
1980s thru 1990s – Lakelands continues to diversify adding architectural, prestressed, and agricultural products to the line
1990– Lakelands serves the Modular Building make by providing small to medium sized buildings with architectural finishes
1993 – Lakelands becomes Architectural PCI Certified
1996 – Tragedy strikes again, and the Lima facility burns to the ground due to a heater malfunction. Within 10 days the team has production up and running again with undamaged molds, as well as cleaned up the damaged structure in preparation for rebuilding
1999 – Renovations and updates to office building
2005 – Todd Clarke, son of Richard Clarke, is named President of Lakelands Concrete Products, Inc.
2010 – Stone Strong Retaining Wall product line added
2012 – Lakelands breaks into the sanitary manhole market with addition of molds and accessories for round manholes
